To Our Valued Guests

While we look forward to welcoming each of you to York’s Wild Kingdom this season, there is a great deal of uncertainty for us all surrounding the current COVID-19 situation.

We will continue to provide our animals with the dedicated, professional care that we always have. Critical operations staff, including animal care teams and other selected employees, will continue working at the zoo to provide vital care to them and infrastructure.

Our priority remains the safety of all of our Team Members and Guests, and we’re closely following the guidelines set forth by federal, state and local government officials. Because of the shutdown of preseason preparations, we won’t be ready to start our season as normally planned on May 23rd, 2020. While it’s too soon to confidently provide an opening date, please know we remain committed to opening York’s Wild Kingdom this summer for you to enjoy as soon as safely possible. We will post all the available updates on our facebook page and at .

We appreciate your understanding and support during these challenging times.

Thank you and stay safe. York’s Wild Kingdom

Your zoo needs your support more than ever

Together, we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global coronavirus pandemic is affecting all of our families, our businesses, our communities, and our way of life.

York’s Wild Kingdom is closely monitoring the coronavirus situation and continually evaluating information and recommendations from the state of Maine and of the CDC. This has led us to postpone our 2020 season opening date. We are planning on reopening as soon as safely possible.

As we approach what would be our busiest time of the year, this closure will have a significant financial impact on York’s Wild Kingdom. To help replace funds normally generated through ticket sales we are asking for your help. Please consider making a donation to our Emergency Operating Fund. Just like our animals, anything big or small can have an impact.

York’s Wild Kingdom is privately owned, open seasonally, and does not receive any state or federal funding. The Emergency Fund proceeds go directly towards veterinary care, diets, enrichment, heating, exhibit maintenance, the design of new exhibits, paying our dedicated staff, and the many other expenses involved in housing and caring for animals year-round.

Please consider making a contribution to our Emergency Fund. No amount is too small, and every generous contribution helps us ensure that all animals are well-fed, provided with enrichment, and are receiving any necessary veterinary care during this difficult time.

*Please be aware that financial gifts to York’s Wild Kingdom are not tax deductible.
